What is this website for? Why did I make it?
Originally, this was just going to be a portfolio type site for me to dump my animations, but after exploring many amazing neocities sites, I was motivated to turn this website into something more. I want it to eventually be like an unfiltered reflection of myself and my interests.
Who am I?
So anyways, My name is Ian, AKA Orbital Lizard. I’m a 20 year old college student who's struggling to decide what to do with himself. I have quite a few hobies and interests, so I guess I'll talk about those here.
Hobbies
Making lego stop-motion animations is one of my biggest hobbies at the moment, so much so, that I'm considering a career in animation. But the truth is, I can't really decide which aspect of "brickfilming" I like the most. I do enjoy animating, but I equally enjoy the story-telling and set-design aspects.
Coding has been an on-and-off hobby of mine for many years, which has eventually led to this website. I'm being very loose with the defenition of "coding" here, because a big part of that for me has been the website Scratch, The "block-based visual programming language" meant to teach kids how to code, which I was pretty into during high school. But besides that, I also had a JavaScript phase. For a while, I was learning JS and was especially interested in physics simulations.
I'm kind of hesitant to call "listening to music" a hobby, but it's a big enough part of my life that i'm including it here anyways. I'll go into more detail in the "interests" section. I've also started collecting CDs and cassettes for albums I like, though my collection is tiny right now.
Besides listening to music, I also play some instruments, those being cello and guitar. I've played cello since middle school, but I only recently started learning guitar and still consider myself a beginner.
Music production is another hobby I've had for years. Until like a year ago, I mainly used the GarageBand mobile app. I've written scores for some of my brickfilms, as well as for some other peoples' brickfilms. I might make a page for them someday.
I guess one very general hobby I have is art. By "art" I guess I mostly mean doodling and drawing with a pen. I have a weird relationship with drawing. I draw pretty often, but I haven't really practiced or tried improving at it in a long time.
I also enjoy writing, even if i'm not very good at it. I'll definitely use this site to share my writings about various topics that interest me.
